200cm Studio Cube Assembly Instructions

We hope you find the following assembly instructions useful. The basic supporting frame of the cube is twelve aluminium tubes with eight 3-way plastic moulded corner joints. The tube sections are inserted into sewn channels within the main fabric and connected at the corners to construct a rigid cube.

To keep the studio cube clean and in good condition, it is advisable to assemble on a smooth, clean and dust free floor area. As the studio cube is large, then plenty of space will be required.

Step 1.

1. Assemble each of the 12 x frame tubes from the 24 x aluminium half tubes and sleeve joints.

Step 2.

2. Lay the main cube fabric on the floor with the door opening upwards. The door opening has 4 x edges with long velco strips attached to each. (Photo shows opening facing upwards)

Step 3.

3. Find one of the two rear top corners of the cube by locating an opening covered by a flap. This is an access hole for the removable backdrop cross pole. (Photo shows rear right top corner)

Step 4.

4. Insert one of the frame tubes into the narrow fabric channel running across the back of the cube near the flap.

Step 5.

5. Insert another tube into the channel which form the rear vertical section which will be 90 degrees to the tube inserted in Step 4.

Step 6.

6. Join the two tubes previously inserted with one of the 3-way plastic moulded corner joints.

Step 7.

7. Repeat for the other 3 corners to form the back wall of the cube. (Photo shows cube on its back with the door opening facing upwards. Roof of cube is shown nearest the far wall of the room.)

Step 8.

8. Find one of the two rear top corners of the cube (Photo shows rear right top corner) and...

Step 9.

9. ...insert one of the frame tubes into the narrow fabric channel running towards the 3-way plastic moulded corner joint. Do not connect to the joint just yet.

Step 10.

10. Repeat for the other 3 x tubes running towards the corner joints and then insert each tube into its corner joint. (Photo shows the two roof tubes connected to the rear of the cube while the two floor tubes are lying flat on the fabric ready to be connected) If the removable backdrop cross pole is to be used, the 2 x 'figure of eight' loops should be slid onto the roof tubes before connecting.

Step 11.

11. Add a corner joint to each of the two nearest vertical tubes and make sure the fabric is pulled about 30 - 40cm downwards away from the joints to provide enough slackness for connection of a new tube between them.

Step 12.

12. Carefully roll the complete cube structure forwards so that the tube inserted in Step 11 is now on the floor and the door opening facing forwards. Up until this stage the cube has been constructed laying on its back. It should now be oriented correctly.

Step 13.

13. After ensuring fabric is again pulled 30 - 40 cm away from the joint to reduce tension, insert the front door vertical side tubes and top corner joints (Photo shows front right top corner) and...

Step 14.

14. ...connect top tube to enclose the door frame opening. Attempting to connect the joints without first reducing the tension as shown may result in the fabric tearing.

Step 15.

15. Pull the fabric forwards along the four side tubes and stretch around the 4 tubes forming the door opening. Attach the long fabric velcro strips to complete the cube structure.
